Jordan Pond Gate House

Built by John D. Rockefeller Jr., the Jordan Pond Gate House, was one of two such gate houses designed to over-see the carriage roads in Acadia National Park, Maine. It was several minutes after I set up my tripod, fired off some brackets, and just made myself generally at home, that I noticed the "Private Residence" sign nailed to the garage door! Uh-oh; well all you can do is behave respectfully and pray that there is no rifle perched in the attic window aimed to enforce that sign!!

  1. Oh man, what a great location for some deatil shots. Beautiful house, …and you know that sign is kind a small…its almost not there. 😉 I hope you got more from this location.

  2. Great processing of this interesting, imposing structure capture. Please share some of your detailed views of this building.

  3. lol, oops! That’s pretty funny cause you can totally see the sign in the shot. It’s bright yellow! 🙂

I will say though I think it was worth it, this is an awesome capture!

  4. Jordan Pond Gatehouse is now a seasonal residence for National Park Service employees. Jordan Pond is for females and the other gate lodge at Brown Mountain is for men. It is equally imposing and beautifully rustic.
