Unalaska or Dutch Harbor?

Packed Up for the Night

Unalaska or Dutch Harbor, Alaska is an enigma!  I loved this rugged fishing village on the coasts of both Unalaska and Amaknak Islands, connected by a bridge called “the Bridge to the Other Side”.  The island and the town are both named Unalaska. There is a body of water called Dutch Harbor and many people refer to the town as Dutch Harbor or simply Dutch. Technically, there is no town named Dutch Harbor.  Have I confused you???

Neighborhood Surprise

Neighborhood Walk

You never know what you’ll encounter during a walk in the neighborhood!

Sea Gulls

Sea Gulls

They’re not always boisterous and annoying.  When they’re absent from the beach, I miss their squawks, their begging for food and I miss seeing their synchronized flights over the ocean.  And then they rest quietly on the sand in a giant group, all facing in the same direction.  I like that; but it doesn’t last long.

Sydney Reflections

Reflections of Sydney

Although Sydney is best known for its harbourfront and hubs of waterside life, the city’s ever evolving skyscrapers, provide spectacular skyline views.  Beautiful abstract compositions on glass and chrome were naturally enhanced by warm, golden hour light. Yep, I was lucky that night!

Buenos Aires Rooftops

Buenos Aires Rooftops copy1

Look Up!  Life’s happening up there.  I’m rarely disappointed while sightseeing and look up to capture street scenes far above street level.  There’s an intimacy, a slice of life, that’s revealed from this perspective. I hope that you enjoy the view!
