Colorado Dreamin’

Colorado-Dreaming

Happy New Year!  I hope that you are looking forward to 2019; I know that I am!

This is going to be my last http://www.fivefeetsquare.com blog post.  I am so grateful to all who have followed me, liked and commented on my images, throughout the years.   I will continue to share my travel photography on Instagram – http://www.instagram.com/barbarayoungleson/     I hope to see you there.

I love the words of Helen Keller: “life is either a daring adventure or it is nothing.”  I know that adventure awaits, even if it’s in my own back yard.

Montserrat, Spain

Montserrat

About one hour North West from Barcelona by train, Montserrat offers some of the most spectacular mountain views of Catalunya.  You can take a funicular to the top of the mountain, and from there you can choose a number of different walks through some of the most unusual rock formations, all with amazing views of the Catalonian countryside.

The surreal Supertree Grove in Singapore’s Garden by the Bay comes to life at night and gives a new, jaw-dropping meaning, to vertical garden.

Beng Mealea Temple

Siem Reap, Cambodia

Unlike many of the other Angkor temples, Beng Mealea (said to be the “blue-print” for Angkor Wat) has not been fortified or rehabilitated. This means getting in and around this, nearly one thousand year old temple, is a hands on activity. Piles of stone rubble litter the courtyard and lie haphazardly throughout the site. Vegetation runs amok! Gorgeous mosses cover large swaths of stone, and tiny saplings popping up from minuscule cracks, have turned into full-grown trees winding their way around and through the ancient ruins.

Hello from Dubai!

The Dubai Miracle Garden, located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, is certainly aptly named considering that — like pretty much everything in this Middle Eastern destination — it was built on desert land.  It is the home to the biggest natural flower garden in the world, showcasing  a variety of immense sculptures and designs.  Wonder and amazement at every turn!

She’s feeling a little ‘moody’ today.  But you know what they say about a bad day at the beach . . .

The Surreal Landscapes of Lanzarote
