Dhow Laborer

_BCY0018-Edit

Dubai Creek – Dubai, United Arab Emirates

You see these workers on the dhows every day loading everything from vegetables and fruit, clothes, vehicle spares, cars, to electrical equipment, into the boats.  They toil in the sun or in pitch-black, cramped conditions below-deck.  And then make their way up and down Dubai Creek, and once the boat is full, it’s off — loading and unloading in several countries around the Middle East before it reaches its destination in Iran, East Africa, Pakistan or India.

Neglecting to remain on your side of the bridge is life threatening!  Of course, it’s very easy to veer to the ‘wrong’ side of the Brooklyn Bridge walk-way.  Sometimes you encounter a biker who is just bigger than life and you know that you and your camera are treading on very dangerous (wrong-way) ground.

It was 11:50 pm (note clock on Metropolitan Life Building) and we rushed to the entrance of the Empire State Building.  Visibility was quickly decreasing but I was hoping for a cloud break when we reached the top. This view lasted for just a few seconds.
