View from the Burj Khalifa (No.1 in a Series)

Our 60 second space odyssey flight (elevator ride is such an unimaginative description) to the 124th floor observation tower of the Burj Khalifa was just the beginning of this quintessential "room with a view" experience. I don't think that I can describe how I felt when I gazed out, and so far down, to the roof tops of Dubai. I know that I was incredibly lucky to be there; with my husband, my camera and my tripod. We stepped onto to observation platform at about 4:00 pm, so we had plenty of time for daylight and twilight views. More to come . . .

Welcome To My Town

A warm, genuine smile, a big toothy grin, sparkling eyes. He welcomed us to Civitavecchia, his town, his vegetable market. He spoke a universal language without uttering a word.

Pomegranates

The charm of the European port city of Civitavecchia (Northwest of Rome) is best experienced in its street markets. The fruit, vegetables, fish and the vendors themselves could have been in the same stalls, generations before. The name Civitavecchia means "ancient town". Listen to its history; see and feel its essence in its street markets.

Montserrat Landscape

We took a day trip to Montserrat, the Benedictine Monk retreat, which is one hour Northwest of Barcelona by train. It offered some of the most spectacular mountain views in Spain.

Internacional Cool Hotel

You never know what you'll see when you 'look up' while strolling Barcelona's, Las Ramblas.
