They’re not always boisterous and annoying.  When they’re absent from the beach, I miss their squawks, their begging for food and I miss seeing their synchronized flights over the ocean.  And then they rest quietly on the sand in a giant group, all facing in the same direction.  I like that; but it doesn’t last long.

These tiny fishing boats were dwarfed by gigantic tankers, yachts and cruise ships negotiating their way along the Suez Canal. I marveled at their bravery while vying for a little fishing territory along the choppy waters of the Canal.

We were sailing from the Suez Canal to Aqaba in Jordan, when we were treated to one of the most strikingly beautiful and unusual sunsets that I have ever seen.
